Welcome back to the Cannatech podcast. Harry Brelsford here with Trevor Reeves  from Canix. How’re you doing today, Trevor?

Trevor Reeves

Good doing great.

Harry Brelsford

Boy, you got a Down Vest out or something? I’m in just outside Austin, Texas. And that’s the low 80s. So I would not even wear that. Where are you?

Trevor Reeves

I’m in San Francisco. And it’s pretty chilly today. And the office heaters not quite working as well as I would like it. So got the jacket on still.

Harry Brelsford

Well, there we go. So we’re talking Kanex. seed to sale? That you definitely slots right in with can attack in our audience. So give it your best shot? What is what is kennix?

Trevor Reeves

Yeah, absolutely. So Canix, we’re a seed to sale system, also known as cannabis ERP. So what we do is we help companies kind of navigate some of the regulatory requirements as it relates to inventory control, we provide a number of different reports to kind of calculate what your profit per gram is, as well as a number of different functions for manufacturers, processors, distributors to get product from point A to point B and have a software to help you do that.

Harry Brelsford

And do you go all the way down to point of sale? Or do you integrate with a point of sale solution? I’m just kind of curious.

Trevor Reeves

Yeah, so we don’t currently provide point of sale, we stop up until that the point of distribution. But we do integrate with some POS systems out there. And we have some additional capabilities on some of the retail reporting to actually try to get that full cycle profit per gram calculation.

Harry Brelsford

Yeah. And I see, literally front and center on your, your web page above the fold, you have the TechCrunch Disrupt award that you want in 2020. What’s what’s that about?

Trevor Reeves

Yeah, so we were actually the winner of the 2020 TechCrunch Disrupt startup Battlefield, were actually the first cannabis company to win this type of in a while. Basically, just a, it’s a big competition with 1000s of submissions of companies from around the world, to kind of showcase their startup, what they do and pitch it in front of a very experienced judges. And we went, you know, all the way down the line and actually won the whole thing, which was pretty awesome for us.

Harry Brelsford

Yeah, no kidding. And then finally, a little bit about your background. How did you get into the cannabis technology field?

Trevor Reeves

I mean, kind of by chance, you know, my friend and colleague, Stacey Hronowski is actually the CEO, had known her with various startups and other things as well, socially. And she had started this company by working with some actual producers in California. They were having problems with metric integration, stuff like that. And so she had started the company to basically create a mobile app to simplify the metric metrics submission process, which then evolved into more of a system and, you know, they were her and her co founder, Artem, Patrick, Nick, he and her had actually created the system. And they got into thing called Y Combinator, which is essentially an accelerator, you know, basically, in the Bay Area. And they had started that and throughout that process, they needed somebody to help manage sales and growth and kind of, you know, be able to talk to people and that’s really how I got on board. And since then, I’ve just loved the industry and, and everything that we’re doing.

Harry Brelsford

Great. And I’m an individual level or corporate level, what events might we see you at in 2022? Fingers crossed, that the major events are going to happen? What what are what are two that you we could expect to see us that? Yeah,

Trevor Reeves

we so we typically will go to haul flowers go see a bunch of folks out there as well as mjbizcon. That’s probably the bigger one out in Vegas, and depending on when they have it this year, which seems like it’s been moving around. We did make it last year but yeah, well, we’ll be out there usually having a booth and we’d be happy to to meet you guys and talk to anybody else out there.

Harry Brelsford

Alright, well stay in touch Trevor. Thank you. Thank you.
